In May 2013 the ROSE International Doll Show began to take shape. ROSE stands for Reborns, OOAK, and Silicones of Excellence. Our team has been working behind the scenes for the last several months to plan out the details for this magnificent event. We had not been planning to launch the doll show till January 2014 when we had all the details nailed down and the website built. But as a board we d...ecided that it might be best to get the information out there publicly sooner than later.
So here's a bit of info of what we are working on and planning!
We have been working with our attorney to finalize our Partnership LLC as R.O.S.E International Doll Show. All of our hard work is coming together beautifully.
I started working on the doll show with my dear friend Dana Heimerl from Katelyn Lane Nursery, my sister Heather Clark from Reborns by Design Nursery as well as throwing ideas around with my sister in law Letha Mellman from Baby Mine Nursery back in May. We didn't want anyone to think that we were trying to compete with DEDS or now IDS so we have been working to get our game plan together for 2015.
A few weeks ago, as many of you know, Debra Jadick resigned from DEDS for personal reasons from DEDS. I contacted her after her departure and asked if she'd like to work with us on our doll show. Originally she declined the opportunity because she really wanted to create a big doll show in Atlanta where she lives. But as we talked about it we both agreed that the doll world needed to see a united front. Not 10 different small doll shows pop up here and there. So in the end we agreed to unify our efforts and take turns hosting the doll show between Denver Colorado and Atlanta Georgia so it would get to both sides of the USA.
A few days after we agreed to join efforts Tracey Rusthoven resigned from DEDS staff for personal reasons. We valued her kind heart and dedication to the dolls so we invited her to join our team as well. So our team is now complete!
Our Board of directors has officially been formed and voted upon and we are all ready to "get 'er done"!
We have the hotel reserved and are going through contract negotiations with them. We have reserved 50,000 square feet of show room floor with a top of the line deluxe conference center and hotel. ROSE International Doll Show is scheduled for JULY 14-18, 2015 at the Crown Plaza Convention Center and Hotel. The room rates are amazing and the place is beautiful and new.
We have been busy working on bringing a whole new feel to our doll show. We have been working with local nursing/senior/retirement homes, and hospice centers to educate them about the therapeutic value of the dolls. We are pleased to announce that there will be one full day of the doll show that will be open exclusively to these homes and centers for them to bring their patients and residents to the show FREE OF CHARGE. We are currently collecting new and gently used reborns to donate to the homes as they come through for them to use for reborn doll therapy!
We are partnering with Butterfly's and Bandages to do a raffle for them to collect money for them to use to help children born with a rare genetic condition Epidermolysis Bullosa – also known as EB.
Epidermolysis Bullosa (ep-ih-dur-MOL-uh-sis buhl-LO-sah) is the worst disease you never heard of. Imagine your child with extremely painful wounds similar to burns covering most of his or her body. Imagine never being able to hold your child tight because if you did, their skin would blister or shear off. This is life with EB.
1 out of every 50,000 live births is affected with some type of EB.
There is as yet no effective treatment or cure.
These children spend every day of their lives is bandages. Most of which insurance will not cover. The money we raise will go directly to help provide the daily bandages and supplies these families need to care for their little ones.. We are collecting items to raffle off at the doll show. There will be representatives and children with EB at the shows end to collect the money that is donated to them. You won't want to miss meeting these little survivers in person!
There will be loads of fun activities to enjoy at the event. We will have a fabulous time meeting new friends and getting to know others who share the love of reborns and dolls.
Each one of us on the Board of ROSE International Doll Show are very passionate about what we do. All of us are professional reborn doll artists and or collectors of reborns. We share the same love for this art. We believe that reborns hold a healing power that can not be found and any other means. We have all seen the healing touch as a reborn is cuddled by someone in pain or grief. We have witnessed memories returning to the eyes of an Alzheimer's patient. We have watched a reborn calm the agitation of a dementia patient. We have seen the comfort the reborn gives to a terminally ill individual. We have all made reborns for women who have lost a child. We each have stories of how our reborns they have become the children to heartsick mothers who can't bare children of their own. As well as lonely grandmothers who need a little cuddle. If everyone in the world had a reborn to cuddle the world would be a happier place!
We believe we are blessed and privileged to be able to make these healing pieces of art. After all, how many people can say they sculpt homeopathic medicine to heal the soul, in the form of life itself! And how may artists can say they paint life, love and hope.
We already have a fabulous line up of wonderful artists who will be partnering with us to launch this doll show. We have many who have already agreed to teach a variety of classes. We have artists who are sculpting new dolls to be released for the first time at the show. We are working with well known artist who are raffling off babies for our charities.
Our official exciting launch is coming in January 2014 when our website will be officially built and information complete and ready for everyone to reserve their booths and tables.
We are striving to unite the doll world in this one brilliant event. We are working every day to make every detail perfect for this doll show. No detail will be overlooked. It will be phenomenal! We invite you all to come and join us at the event. We look forward to seeing everyone there. You won't want to miss this!
